The sector focuses on scientific and educational activities in the field of Electrical Engineering. It studies the theoretical and experimental aspects of two complementary areas: electromagnetic fields and circuits, as well as the development of their applications in various engineering sectors. In the first area, the focus is on problems related to electromagnetic fields, electromagnetic compatibility, signal integrity, electro- and magnetofluid dynamics, as well as the modeling and diagnostics of materials and systems of electrical and magnetic interest at macro-, micro-, and nanoscale. In the second area, the focus is on electrical and electronic circuits for both signal and power, nanocircuits, biocircuits, and their models: linear, nonlinear, and time-varying; lumped and distributed parameter systems; analog, digital, and neural. The two complementary approaches are applied to analysis, synthesis, physical and numerical modeling, and the automated design of electrical and electronic equipment, devices, and systems; to plasma engineering; controlled thermonuclear fusion; particle accelerators; electrothermy; superconductivity; electromagnetic compatibility; quality, safety, and environmental and biological impact of electromagnetic fields and electrical applications; as well as power circuits for mechatronics, electric energy conversion, and its generation, including from alternative sources. In signal processing, the two approaches are applied to circuits and algorithms for imaging, prediction, and biomedical, multimedia, telecommunications, remote sensing, and security applications. The group of Elettrotecnica at the Department of Engineering of the University of Perugia is mainly interested in - Modelling and experimental characterization of magnetic materials - Modelling and experimental characterization of power electronic devices - Electromagnetic compatibility - Electromagnetic non invasive testing |
