Geotechnical Engineering covers both research and teaching activities in the following fields:

Analytical, computational and experimental techniques aimed to model soils and rocks and their mechanical behaviour under static and seismic conditions;

Procedures for geotechnical characterization and zoning of large areas of the territory, seismic and environmental geotechnics;

Analysis, design and construction of geotechnical structures such as foundations, embankments, earthworks and dams, excavations and earth retaining structures, tunnels.

Characterization and monitoring, slope stability, rock engineering, earthquake engineering, soil improvement and reinforcement.
